Not all your time is quality time!
When it comes to spending time with your kids, you should know that not all your time is ‘quality time. So, what can you do to ensure that your kid gets some ‘quality time with you?
1. Switch off devices during family time: Does the entire family stick to their gadgets even when together? It’s a problem most of us face today. But making a conscious effort to switch off all devices could be a good start, at least during dedicated family time. The time you spend together that way will truly be memorable.
2. Create ‘rituals’ that both of you enjoy: Some kids like that you read them a bedtime story, while some like to play cricket with you over the weekend. As every child is unique, you’ll need to build ‘rituals’ or routine activities that you do together.
3. Involve them in making or serving meals: Before technology took over our lives, meal times used to be when you got to interact with the family. You would cook together, set up the table together, have the meal together and clean up together. This is something you can do today as well. Even the youngest kids can pick up small roles - like filling up glasses of water at the table.
